The Danube Navigation Museum Regensburg is housed aboard two historic vessels: the paddle-wheel steam tug “Ruthof-Érsekcsanád” (built in 1922) and the motor tug “Freudenau” (built in 1942). Both have been meticulously restored through years of dedicated work. Visitors can explore a number of original onboard spaces, including the steam engine and diesel engine, which are among the museum’s main attractions. The motor tug is still operational and is occasionally used for excursion trips. Dioramas, models, and interpretive displays aboard the steam tug provide insight into the history of navigation on the German-speaking stretch of the Danube.
