About the Long Night
WELCOME TO THE LONG NIGHT OF REGENSBURG MUSEUMS!
Regensburg, it is a pleasure to be back! Nothing validates an event format more than the desire to see it continue.Following last year’s successful debut, we are especially delighted that the Long Night of Regensburg Museums is now taking place for the second time. Above all, because it gives us an opportunity to strengthen the partnerships that have emerged along the way. Many of the institutions, museums, and organizations that participated in the inaugural event are once again opening their doors. At the same time, it allows us to grow. We are pleased to welcome new partners who will enrich our program with exciting additional venues and fresh perspectives.
There is still much to discover in Regensburg’s diverse cultural landscape. This is reflected in this year’s event motif, inspired by a work by artist Barbara Muhr. Powerful, dynamic, and multifaceted, it embodies the vitality of Regensburg’s art scene and provides the Long Night of Museums with a distinctive visual identity.
Our sincere thanks go to everyone who helps shape this special night with such remarkable dedication, as well as to the Cultural Affairs Office of the City of Regensburg for its trusted partnership and support.
Last year, an idea had its debut. With this second edition, the debut becomes a tradition. We invite you to help us carry that tradition forward and join us for an inspiring evening filled with unforgettable cultural experiences.

A city is not defined solely by its streets and squares, but above all by its stories. The Long Night of Regensburg Museums invites visitors to discover Regensburg in just that way: with curiosity, openness, and a fresh perspective.Following the successful debut, our municipal institutions will once again be opening their doors. The Besucherzentrum Welterbe (World Heritage Visitors Center) is celebrating its anniversary with the exhibition “20 Years UNESCO World Heritage Regensburg.” The Historical Museum, document Neupfarrplatz, and document Kepler are bringing important chapters of our past back to life.
From the depths of history, the city tours offered by Regensburg Tourism will lead visitors out into the Old Town. Along the Danube, the Donau-Schiffahrts-Museum (Danube Navigation Museum) will bring to life Regensburg’s connection to its river, while the Brückturm-Museum (Bridge Tower) will offer sweeping views across our city’s rooftops.
Together, these experiences will paint a comprehensive portrait of Regensburg, from the traces of its past to the cityscape of the present, from its historic alleyways to the banks of the Danube.

Anyone who joined us last year knows that one night is hardly enough to explore the full richness of Regensburg’s cultural landscape. All the more reason for me to be delighted that the Long Night of Regensburg Museums is now returning for its second go-round, connecting cultural venues throughout the city.Alongside our municipal institutions, our churches are also playing a prominent role this year. Neupfarrkirche, Niedermünsterkirche, and St. Emmeram are opening their doors and filling their spaces with light and music.
Regensburg’s gallery scene is also showcasing its diversity. Galerie Claus will present fine art photography, while Gallery Panta Rhei will point out experimental approaches to contemporary art.
One of the focal points of the Long Night will be the city’s own gallery, the Städtische Galerie im Leeren Beutel, whose artwork inspired this year’s event motif. Here, leading Regensburg artists, the in-house cinema “filmGalerie,” and the Jazzclub will come together under one roof. The Staatstheater Regensburg will also be offering visitors a chance a peek behind the scenes.
Whether in exhibition spaces or church naves, on canvas or stage, at a jazz bar or in many other locations throughout the city, the evening promises a wealth of discoveries and encounters. I warmly invite all visitors to experience this diversity and wish you an enjoyable evening.
