Sudetendeutsches Musikinstitut (Sudeten-German Music Institute)

For the Long Night, the Sudeten-German Music Institute will present a selection of treasures from its music collections, including historic sheet music and composers’ estates, and offer insights into its work preserving and researching the rich musical heritage of Bohemia. It will quickly become clear that the focus is not simply on a museum-style view of a once-vibrant musical culture. Rather, it will be a matter of rediscovering a cultural region that, as a transcultural laboratory, played a significant and formative role in the exchange between different musical traditions over many generations. The goal is to make these traces visible and to reconnect them with contemporary society as part of a developing culture of remembrance.
